Nature Fun
Tonight we decided that we were going to take Rocket from Michigan and Polly and Amber from Oklahoma out to visit one of our sycamore trees. For some reason which I have never figured out these are my kids favorite trees. We have one in our backyard and a big beautiful one when we drive in the front gate. The kids always want to take traveler pics at their favorite tree.
Say hello to our new vistors from Oklahoma

Foxs traveler is home from Michigan
Fox was pretty excited to see his traveler come home today and of course he was excited about the goodies that came with him. He loved the salt water taffy and was happy to share with his siblings after some discussion on how nice it is to do so! Fox is my wild child. I look at them all and I can just say he's a little crazy but thats my baby! He likes doing the exchanges alot and he will talk of travelers that we have sent home months ago all he time. He is a sweetie most of the time.

At the park
Today we went to the park. The Falling Creek Park to be exact. The kids played then we took a walk in the woods, which Skyler said was spooooky because it was getting dark. I think Deerie enjoyed the nature!

Fun With Deerie
Today Deerie had the fun in helping us build a solar oven. From start to finish she was right there.
While she was willing to be a watcher when the oven was outside cooking we decided that may not be a great idea as she would get a bit too heated!
Skyler Bay and Deerie enjoyed their bagel pizza very much. We may try some other stuff later this week at the park when we go nature hunting!

Foxs traveler has made it back to the mainland.
Foxs traveler has finally made it back from Hawaii. He was so excited. He was dancing around the house wearing the lei all morning. He really loved the volcano rocks and told me their sand smells like our beach. I don't know if different beaches are suppose to smell differently but he was happy to know that Hawaii and us smells the same.

Goodbye Crash and Joshua
Well as with all good things.... Our visit is over and the travelers are on their way home. I so hope the little boys recieving these love them as much as we loved putting them together.
Just to give a little idea of things we include to send back since everyone keeps asking me that.. We made a nature book of our area, we tried to get a printed something of everywhere we went and some pics. The kids made rubbings of stones and tress as well, brochures about popular places whether we went or not, postcards and maybe a project to do or a candy from our state.
We had fun with our travelers and I have enjoyed getting to know the moms as well. It has been a great expierence and the kids all wanna know when they are getting to go somewhere else??

Something very important to remember when doing these activities
Something to remember about geo box and flat traveler swaps is don't forget their are real little kids doing this. Real little kids who run to the mailbox everyday and are sadly dissapointed when their partner does not follow through. If you agree to a swap then it is not unreasonable to be expected to fufill your commitment. Everyone knows life happens but to just ignore messages from your partner or not bother to even send travelers home is just wrong. You are hurting other people childrens feelings. Kids put alot of time and effort into their travelers and are sad when they never come back.
Geo boxes take time effort and cost to do and it's very dissapointing to feel as if you have been taken advantage of. If life happens send the travelers home. If you can't do a geo box tell your partner don't just accept theirs and never contact them again. This is a great activity for children and they get so excited about it, so please keep that in mind. After all you would never want your child to be made feel this way.
